Writing Instructions
1. Select a topic and read about it. 2. Identify six important characteristics of that topic. 3. Write the characteristics in order from the most "general" to the most "specific." General characteristics are qualities that could apply to many different topics, while specific characteristics only apply to your subject, or just a few others. 4. Write your characteristics in a playful, rhyming pattern in five sets, asking "Who Am I" at the end of each set. |

Black, brown and white are my main colors, I soar when I'm hungry, I never ever hover. Who Am I? I have the broadest of all Colorado bird wings, When I wake with the sun, I never sing. Who Am I? You already know that I'm not a raptor, I eat food that I don't have to capture. Who Am I? I have no nest for protecting my eggs, I have no feathers upon my legs. Who Am I?
