Mood: aggressive Topic: coyote Facts: alpha dogs, yipping, family 5-minute writing: A litter of young pups was playing in the meadow when the scent of a lone dog wafted through the air. The hairs of the alpha male stood on end. In an instant, he let out two yips, a call to all other males in the area, and a series of yips were instantly returned. The alpha circled around the den three times, checking its security before taking off. The hunt was on to protect the newborn pups and the safety of the family. Running nose to the air, the angered dog screamed through the thick brush, branches grabbing out at his thick spring coat, but were seemingly unnoticed. Within minutes, the intruder was sighted. Two more yips, and two more in return. The team encircled the intruder, and with menacing growls, and a show of teeth, the lone coyote turned, tail between its legs as it dashed away. And calm instantly returned, as the coyotes returned back to the den, to find that all was safe and secure. |
